I got this hen from a friend who got caught keeping chickens & had to get rid of them. She is my roosters favorite & a great layer of light tan eggs. I would like to get more of her kind if she is an actual breed. I thought maybe she is a BO but wanted to know what you all thought.

She's a BO. Too light to be RIR.

She is not a pure Buff Orpington. More likely a Gold Comet like Cubalaya said or some type of sex link.

I agree with the above. Not cobby enough or light enough for an Orpington. I think it is a red sex-link, or Red Star as they are known.

They are great layers, even in cold weather

I think she is a BO just hatchery stock.

I'm putting my vote in sex-link. Regardless of the variety, they're excellent layers -- mine each lay an XL to Jumbo egg virtually every day.
