What breed of bantam chick is this?

Hi so I thought this was a a black bantam silkie but I don’t think it is anymore. I think it’s a black bantam Cochin. Tell me your thoughts. It’s 3 and a half weeks old. He/she is the sweetest chicken I own.

Is it to early to tell the gender?

A little early yet. I hatched some of these and at around 4 weeks the cockerels had all started to sprout their pink wattles whereas the girls didn't until around 10 weeks old. By 6 weeks the difference was very obvious and the boys were crowing, but it can depend on their genetics as to how fast they mature. Hopefully it's a girl for you.

We didn't keep any of ours as we lived in suburbia at the time but I'm pretty sure they are nice. Most bantam roos are good around people.
