Hello! I was given 3 small chicks a couple weeks ago and everyone keeps telling me they are quail... I have never seen a quail in person so I am not the best judge of that. I am told they are pullets. They were bought from tractor supply and then given to us after the owner decided they were more work than they were worth. What breeds do you think they are??

Not quail haha, looks like speckled sussex perhaps? Pullet means "young female", most hatcheries use that term despite having an 80% sexing rate (meaning 20% of their "pullets" are going to be "dude-lets") but heres hoping yours will turn out to be actual pullets!!
Thank you! I didn’t think they were quail since I figured I’d be getting eggs by now. And then I wanted to make sure I said they were pullets in case the cockerels looked different at this age. I had honestly no clue what they were!! I raise australorps and silkies so these are new for me! 😂🤦‍♀️

Yes, it’s a chicken. But not a speckled Sussex. Or it’s a really bad example of SS. The feathers aren’t “speckled” and leg color is not correct.
