The head is blurry in the photo. Could you post a clear photo of the head? My first guess would be that it is a mix.
X2 on that.
Hi there - and welcome to BYC. Unfortunately, this photo does not give us much to go on in guessing as to breed. can you get a photo without the blur on the head?
I'm thinking mixed breed cockerel. How old is it?
9 weeks old, it's mixed breed, it's a very shy bird what do you think the mix is?
Are the feathers on body like fur, as on a silkie chicken? Seems that way in picture.
If it has silky feathering then it is a either from a few generations of chickens mixing very freely or someone's project in making a Breed X with the silky feathering.
At the very least Silkie is part of the ancestry but it has lost a lot of the silkie breed traits so it is likely minimal silkie blood. I'm tempted to suggest Wyandotte as the larger part of the mix... but in the end nobody will be sure.
It is a male for sure and will be a very cool looking bird as he matures. Not terribly many silky feathered birds with clean legs and without crests.
Thanks for the information, yes he's going to be a head turner
