We bought three beautiful white chickens yesterday at an animal swap and we were told they were "polish." I watched one lay a very small mint green egg this morning. It is the smallest chicken egg I have ever seen. It is smaller than my quail eggs. Is this normal or an accident? Also, can polish chickens lay small mint green eggs? I was thinking it was mixed with some other breed but are there chickens that lay that small of an egg? I will try to post a picture in the comments. Thank you!
Can you post a picture of the bird? And is it standard size or bantam? Likely she has some easter egger in her background, whether bantam or standard. As for the size, it could just be an anomaly- sometimes chickens lay some strange eggs! Including the occasional tiny one. Not too abnormal.
X 2 -- the bird is decidedly not a pure polish given the shell color, but without seeing the bird we can't tell you what it is.
