I went to Tractor Supply yesterday to get chicken food and they had some chicks in and we need more layers for the flock,so I got 6(minimum was 6) and the sign said red pullets and it said they could be rhode island reds, production reds, red sexlink, so I'm wandering what breed they are I think they might be rhode island red but not sure thanks for any help!!![IMG]

Look like production reds (hatchery Rhode Island) but you won't know for sure until they grow out. The sex links will have some white hackle feathers and other areas of white leakage.

Forefront is a Red Star ( red sex link) and left is a Production Red (hatchery Rhode Island Red).

Here is a Production Red chick. Note the speckling/banding on feathers like yours.

Its hard to tell from the pictures (try taking some away from the red light). However, I think that they are most likely Production Reds.

I don't think they are sex links. Ours have always had a darker chipmunk stripes down the back. My guess would be RIR. [IMG]
