I bought these girls a couple days ago but still can't figure out what type of chicks they are. The guy at the feed store told me that the two brown ones are amerucanas but he seemed unsure[IMG][/IMG]

Most of what feed stores sell as 'Americanas' are Easter eggers, they come in a variety of colors, the eyeliner and 'chipmunk' color for the chicks is a common one, so you might have EEs. most lay greenish blue eggs but some lay brown or pinkish eggs.

I don't think they're Ameraucana or Easter eggers. I'm seeing clean faced, straight combed, yellow legged chicks. Granted, there is a chance they could be EE, but all those traits together say no to me.

As to what they are, though......hard to say at this point. I'm thinking they're going to be something wild type colored, or along the lines of a black breasted red, like a Welsummer, etc. Their color will change a bit as they get their adult plumage, so we'll have a better idea around 6-7 weeks.

Welcome to BYC! [IMG] [IMG] I agree, I'm also thinking Welsummers or something along those lines.
