    What breed is this?
    The rest of the Black Austrolorps have dark eyes, black/dark brown but this guy looks like he's a black cat as a chicken with those bright yellow eyes.

    Is it still a Black Austrolorp or is it a similar breed?

    It's a hatchery quality Black Australorp. It's not uncommon for hatchery quality Aussies to have lighter eyes than the SOP standard calls for.

    Most likely a hatchery quality Black Australorp.

    "SOP" stands for "Standard of Perfection", a book produced by the American Poultry Association that describes the ideal appearance of all breeds of chicken, duck, goose, turkey, and guinea fowl. Birds bred to the Standard exhibit certain breed characteristics, but because hatcheries don't breed to the Standard, their birds often lack traits such as correct eye color.
