Hi there! My family has been raising chickens for as long as I can remember but we never really paid attention to the breeds until recently. We were given two hens and a rooster and we would like to know what breeds they are. We also have another hen that we've had since she was chick but we were never told the breed.

This is Magnus. I tried to do some research and I think he could be Plymouth Rock.

This is June. We've has her since she was a chick but we weren't told the breed.

This is Rose. Her chicks hatched two weeks ago I can't wait to see what they will look like!

    And finally, this is Lily.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I agree magnus looks like a Barr Rock. Does June lay pretty green eggs? She looks like an Easter Egger. What color of eggs does Rose lay?

Magnus has some barred ancestry (probably Rock), but he's not pure bred. A pure bred barred Rock rooster would have more white than black, and yellow legs. His pink/white skin shows he's mixed with a breed such as Orpington or Marans (most likely suspects). He could be part cuckoo Marans instead of Rock also.

June looks like an Easter egger. The other two hens look like some type of game bird. congratulations on your chicks!

June lays green eggs. Could she be an Americauna? Rose lays brown eggs.

No. "Americauna" isn't actually a breed. It's what hatcheries call their Easter Eggers, which are mixed breed birds (they can lay blue, green, pink, tan, etc. colored eggs; hence, Easter Eggers). True Ameraucanas breed true (offspring same color as parents) and will ALL lay blue eggs ONLY, no other colored eggs.
