What kind of brooder chicken will lay brown eggs?
We are new to the brooder chicken thing
I'm not sure what you mean by brooder chicken?
Here's a chart that shows you most of the chicken breeds, along with the color of egg they lay and whether that breed is known for going broody or not:
Most breeds will get broodie if the eggs are kept in the nest.
Broodiness is a hormonal phase. It occurs whether or not there are eggs or golf balls in the nest. But, some breeds have had the broodiness pretty much bred out of them so that they will stay in production. So, for example, production reds lay brown eggs, but they seldom go broody. Buff Orpingtons, on the other hand, lay brown eggs and often go broody. See the chicken chart gritsar posted for more info.
that chart helped me too.
