    What do I use?
Can you tell me what you use?
    Can you use play sand?
Can you use sand at all?
When you use deep cleaning how deep does it get after 6 months?

    Thanks in advance!

I have no experience with sand but those that use it usually rake out the poop like cleaning a cat box. Not usually used as "deep litter". I have two coops - in the one with the wooden floor I use pine shavings, adding over the poops and cleaning out to the compost pile once a month. Works pretty well. In my other coop, I have a soil floor and use deep litter with whatever I have (usually leaves, or chopped leaf mulch). Works very well. See some pics of what I'm talking about here: http://grow-grow.blogspot.com/2014/11/chicken-challenges-keeping-coop-fresh.html As with all things chicken, you'll probably experiment some and find what works best in your set up.
