what causes blood spots?

    Blood spots are basically from when the egg ruptures a blood vessel in the hen, I THINK! Not sure, so wait. They're totally safe to eat.

    This is what the Georgia Egg Commission has to say about 'em.

    I like the idea that they are an indication of freshness and disappear over time.
