I bought a run of brown egg laying pullets from TSC which I know come from Hoover Hatchery. I haven't been able to match this chick with their ID page. She is 2 1/2ish weeks old. Any ideas?

I agree, I have 4 that are about 9 weeks old and they looked identical at that age.

I'm not sure. I've never seen a barred Rock with that much brown in the chick down. But, everything else fits a Rock. It may be an Oops mixed breed bird, or some weird colored Rock.

Post pics again around 6 weeks so we can see how it turns out?

    Out to pasture
Not only so much brown (it's a good look though) but some gold here and there among the barring ??

Thank you all for the replies! I was thinking barred rock but that brown was what threw me off, she was a dark brown when I got her. I will definitely post more in a few weeks. She is the biggest chick I have too, about double the size of her brooder mates.

You usually don't see red in a barred or cuckoo chick, I'd wait until its older to say for sure...

If it has a beard I'd guess an Easter Egger (EE)
