What color is this?

This is almost a week old banty cochin baby, hatchery. I thought it was black, but it's feathering out w/some brown. Is this the way blacks start and then end up fully black? Or do I have a different color on my hands? PLease say gold laced...

He has the typical down color of a black bird but this down color does not always produce black adults. You will have to wait and see what colors show on the bird. My guess is it will be black with heavy red stippling. From my experience the bird will be brown red also called gold birchen. You will have to wait and see.

Does not appear to be gold laced.
