My wife and I came across this male Muscovy at the park yesterday and we were wondering what color/pattern it could be?

A quick Google search tells me that it's Lilac but I just wanted to make sure šŸ‘

Thank you for your time šŸ˜

Lovely barred lilac muscovy! However, that may not be the duck's final color. I say that as I have a barred chocolate that molted in November and completely changed color. Mine now has a mottled black and white head and neck, and has lost his barring on his neck and chest. And he's nearly black with a green sheen. He still has chocolate barred feathers down his back, hidden by his wings -- I see them when I tickle him down his back [he's a very high maintenance drake when it comes to petting!]

In your photo, the feathers all down the duck's neck and chest have an attractive "lacy" edge. That is the barring might be lost with the first molt.

Thank you for the information šŸ‘

To Lydia's point, we might just adopt him and get him some pretty girls. We saw a couple of ducks with Angel wings at that park, so they can't be getting the best nutrition :/

Heres a great explanation of colors - https://alsquackery.com/muscovy
And this is the original site by the same person - who is here on BYC: https://alsquackery.weebly.com/muscovy-ducks.html

And this one looks promising as well. https://www.muscovyduckdynasty.com/colors-patterns

If you scroll down, the last link I posted the muscovy looks like some of the barred bronze chocolates posted.

That's part of the fun of muscovy, the different color variations are so beautiful.
Great information! There's a lot of cool colors and patterns in Muscovy ducks. Who would've know šŸ˜®
