what could it be?

Had a pheasant chick 3 weeks old with all the meat gone off the wing and a little on his chest. Lived 4 days then died. Found one dead in the outside pen 4 weeks old and flesh gone to the bone on one side and part of its head. Anyone know what could be happening? Bugs, worms, lice? Can't see anything on the birds. Thanks.

Sounds like rats to me we have them but luckily our dogs and cat keep em down

Could be a raccoon trying to pull them thru the wire.or rats.Are they parent raised birds?

Nah one was inside my shop in the brooder and the other in a dbl caged pen. Its like something ate them like bugs, worms,or something like that.

Maybe it's the other birds in the pen.I know once they see blood they keep pecking til the birds dead.

If your certain a raccoon or cat couldn't have gotten them, then I'd have to agree with Tony.
They turn cannibal so fast, and won't stop at just killing. They will feast upon the corpse as long as it's in the cage.
