I have ducks that come into the yard to graze and someone said your chickens can get sick from them. What are they talking about? Is it common?

You are not very likely to find ducks giving disease to your chickens.

if thats true then my chickens are in trouble! i always have them together, they have never gotten sick before and thats this is the 1st time i have ever herd about that.

  6. Avian flu is generally carried by wild/migrating waterfowl. There are 3 or 4 western states that currently have quarantined areas where infected wild birds have been found. At least 2 backyard flocks have been destroyed by the agriculture department after chickens tested positive for Avian Flu.
