I have a variety of different types of chickens, and all seem healthy until unexpectedly they come down with the following symptoms and die within a day or two:
-Puffed up feathers and hiding in corner
-severe weight loss despite seeing them eat (breast bone prominent)
-terrible weakness which leads to them not being able to hold up their head.
A couple of them also seemed to have a clear gel-like fluid coming from their nostrils (although I had a rooster with that that recovered). Their eyes look sunken and dark when they get this. Does anyone know what this is? It doesn't seem to be highly contagious as the cases have been a month or two apart. None of the vets in my area will treat a chicken so this is really frustrating.
thanks for any input,
Mercy
