What can you feed baby chicks.? I wanted to know if I can give my chicks baked sweet potato, I don't have grit for them though. What else can you feed chicks if you don't supply grit.?

They should be fed a commercial chick starter or starter/grower (e.g., Purina start and grow). I wouldn't recommend feeding them "treats" until they are at least 4-6 weeks old, as they're growing really fast and need the nutritional balance in their chick feed. Mashed hard-boiled or scrambled eggs can be fed without grit.

Okay :) I was just wondering if I can feed them a treat, but I will wait till they are over six weeks before I start giving them something else besides commercial food.

I have given very young chicks mashed hard boiled or scrambled eggs, as this is a healthy, complete food. After all, it's what they lived on for 21 days in the shell, [IMG] but limit this to no more than 10% of their feed.

Enjoy your baby chicks. They grow really fast!
