u have beautiful chickens! Congrats on your showing - im jelous! Would love to try showing - but none where i live. And thank you for the wonderful PM - thats the nicest thing anyone has said to me on BYC! You are too kind to take the time to send a message to make someone smile!

I've heard rumor that there will be a show around here next month.

Wish I knew when and where, I'd be taking our BW roo and a couple BW hens.

Pacetruckguy what do you have over the waterer in the second pic? I need something like that so my guys wont keep stepping in the waterer..lol

My Mother-in-law grew up on a chicken ranch in Cotati, CA almost 70 years ago. The property is still owned by the family, and some of the old chicken barns are still standing. I went to the property and scrounged around and found two of thoes cages, but only one porcelin bowl. They were very rusty. I took a wire brush to them and coated them with rust converter. They came out pretty good. They do work well keeping the chickens out of the water, except I have one hen, I call the circus chicken, that keeps jumping up there and perching on it with her two feet on top of each other. I also used the wood off one of the barns that had fallen to give my coop that rustic look. You can see my coop on my personal page.
I don't know if they made those cages any more, but they are very effective.
