Broody refers to a hen that wants to set on her eggs for the purpose of incubation and hatching.

Yes, when a hen wants to be a mama, she will set on eggs and not leave her nest except to relieve herself, eat and drink. Some have to be removed forcibly because their intincts are so strong. Usually they growl and nip at anyone trying to check their eggs.
