son in law lost some chickens, what ever it was only ate the heads, I think it was at night.
you will get as many different suggestions as there are preditors , around here in South Ga , I have lost many that way and never actually caught anything but possoms in the traps or on the game camera , so to me and mine it's possoms .

I heard someone complain that owls were doing it to their chickens. Domestic cats will do it, also.
