I have about 20 girls and a young silkie that hasnt started laying. Found this in the box and am very confused as to where it came from or who it came from. Any ideas (small egg on the far right)?[IMG]

Anyone could have laid it. it's called a wind, fart or fairy egg. Just a glitch where the hen (usually) forgets to put the yolk in the egg. The smaller size is why it's darker in color--the same amount of pigment concentrated in a smaller package.

Thank you!!!! I'm pretty sure it's from one of our girls that just started laying a day or so ago. I'm assuming it is safe to eat? :)

Yep, they're fine to eat, but there's usually no yolk.
