Hi I am new to my hen raising her baby chicks so i do not know if it is good for them to eat some of the things I used to feed my hen before they were born. The chicks are almost two weeks old. My concern is that my hens cone and wattles are not as bright red as they used to be. (kind of pink now) I would like to for her to get back to her normal foods. Everytime i put scrambled egg and sunflower seeds in for her she feeds it to the chicks. I want to start giving my hens her normal foods like yogart, applesauce, cottage cheese and oatmeal but would these things be bad for the babies. Everytime I try and take her out to feed her she gets mad and runs back into the chicks. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

They can eat all of that food quite happily. I feed mine scrambled eggs, petite green peas and corn niblets as well as chopped up spinach and clover. I avoid any processed foods, like bread or noodles until after they are outside and off chick starter.

Thanks so much for the information!! I will just keep putting food out there thru out the day till my hen will eat. At some point the chicks will get full and she will start to eat!
