WHAT FRUIT/VEGGIE/GRAIN IS *NOT* SAFE TO FEED

    avocados, potatoes, citrus fruits, too much salt

    Chickens can't 'stinker' (as in 'exude gas') so should not be fed beans. (Yes, this sounds funny, but it's true.)
    Avocadoes are another food to avoid. Not sure why.

    thank you...I was wondering about sprouting some beans to feed them but not now

    Hmm. My understanding has been that occasional oranges are good for chickens' immune system. My chickens LOOOOOVE them and I haven't noticed problems. Maybe they haven't eaten enough at a time to experience difficulty?? Texas Star, where did you hear that citrus might be detrimental?

    I have heard avacado, beans, potato peels, chocolate and rhubarb leaves especially. Very toxic!

    Oooooh boy I just gave my Chickie a bunch (about 10) of beans. She seemed to like them. I hope she doesnt get a tummy ache.

    There's a list of this stuff somewhere on BYC -- anyone have the link to it? It has stuff you can and cannot feed chickens.
