I think it is a rooster and I thought it was a black star but it does not look like my other black stars? Your opinion is welcomed!

If it matters these chickens are 16 weeks old.

What color are his legs? How old his he?

Could be a Barred Rock--he seems too light to be a sex-link cockerel.

ETA: saw post on age. I still think he's a he.

I'm saying a barred rock rooster. Because of the size of his comb and wattles and feather pattern, but if you could get closer pics of him those would be really helpful. [IMG]

That's what a black star rooster looks like. Black stars are sex linked, meaning the sex is linked to the color. Roosters are barred like that, with the black and white bars. Hens are black with gold or red at the throat/neck/chest.

I'm pretty sure black star roosters only have one gene for barring (otherwise the hens would be barred too), so the barring is either darker or messier so they look more like Barred Rock hens, cuckoo marans, etc--never neat and light like a Barred Rock rooster.
