Hi I'm a new chicken owner and I love them very much! I am having a problem. My 6 month old chicken just started randomly crowding! She doesn't do it very much, and has only been doing it for 2 days now.[IMG]
Before this we thought she was female because of her small tail. She dose not crow in the morning, and I know that some female chicken can crow. I would love to know what other think. Thank you all for your time :)

G’Day from down under river BF [IMG] Welcome!

In my experience, hens that crow are usually older and if they are crowing at 6 months, they are usually boys. Please do not make any decisions based on this but he looks like a boy to me.

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out [IMG]

Money shot. Clearly visible male saddle feathers. It's a boy.
