Can you tell me what gender my Cuckoo Maran chick is? Today 6/22/16 Julie is 6 wks. 3 days. She has no white spot on the back of her head either. She is very sweet. I'm not sure if the 4 photos are showing, so I'll send this and see if I need to send the others again. [IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG]

Hi! I am leaning strongly towards girl becuase of how dark she is and the lack of a comb. I got 2 Male Cuckoo marans out of 5 this year unfortunately and they were both much lighter than the hens and started to get their wattles and a much redder comb around 6/7 weeks. The light spot disappeared once their heads started to feather out.

The white spot is present at hatch, with the chick down. As they feather out, the spot disappears.

Thank you all so much! I was hoping she would be a hen. She is so talkative too.
