What gender is this???

    I have what I believe to be a Leghorn but im not sure about the sex. Is this a roo or a hen? It will be a yr old this May.

    And yes, it is a leghorn or similar type bird.

    a female? wow If I had a 1000$ bucks to bet I would have bet it was a roo! what about how big it's comb is and it's waddles? I'm really new but...I rot at sexing now![​IMG][​IMG]-I guess I better take photos of all my birds and post them when they become of age for sexing--LOL...The hen behind it looked ike a hen--is it a hen?

    Yep, that's a hen too. [​IMG]

    With the leghorns and other Mediterranean egg laying breeds, they often get very large combs and wattles as they come into laying eggs. It's a sure sign that you should be seeing eggs very soon!

    Leghorns have pretty large comb & wattles.

    The comb and wattles look just like my leghorns, and I promise, they lay eggs.

    Yup, it looks just like my two leghorn girls that were murdered by the neighbor's dogs last year. They are the best layers!

    can you post a pic of the one in the back by itself? Looks like a totally different breed....smaller comb, dark legs, etc.

    Plus by a year old if she were a he, he would have spurs and saddle feathers too. I have some austerlorps with their combs and waddles that size.
