What happened? Not too sure.

Today I found this wound on a baby chick. It kind of looks like he snagged himself on some wire. But It seems greenish beneath the skin of the wound. Can anyone shed some light on this mystery? He’s the only injured baby of 7, and there haven’t been any incidents in the coop.

Could he be being bullied? I've seen some nasty wounds done by bored chicks. I'd be careful, if they see red they'll peck him to death.

I don’t believe so, I recently put them in the barn because all the chickens needed to be out of the house. I don’t recall the wound being there prior to last Monday.

Do you own any Blu Kote? I think you should put some on there to protect it.
Get a warm, wet rag and gently clean it out, those spots could be dirt or debris.

Definitely clean it out. If you have any veterycin wound spray that works well to clean and will aid in healing. The green is probably bruising. Are there any adult chickens where the chicks are? That really looks like pecking to me. You will have to prevent pecking until it's healed, may have to separate that one. Blu-kote may or may not work to prevent pecking.
