What happened to my rooster's eye?

Young Copper Maran rooster, 9 or 10 weeks old. I've had him and his siblings in a temporary fenced area. The gnats/mosquitoes/flies are bad this year, and the nice shady spot they are in has lots of them. I'm wondering if maybe someone bit this little guy? The area around his eye is swelled up like a donut since day before yesterday. Maybe it isn't a bite at all? I've never seen anything like this. The swelling seemed to be a little improved this morning, but it's definitely not back to normal. Anyone have any ideas? I can't post a picture right now on my work computer, but I can post one later today.

Looks like there was irritation or something that bothered it,prehaps he got it pecked on or something as such. Give the eye a saline solution wash and make sure there aren't any bubbles. Then It'd be a sign of MG (respiratory issue). Don't panic though, just keep an eye on him
