Ok - I haven't raised chickens since the 70's. I had Barred Rocks before and they all produced nice light brown to medium brown eggs. So I figured that it would be nice to have that breed again after we built our chicken house this Summer. I been patiently waiting for our first eggs to arrive (since they were all April hatchings). Yesterday lo and behold we found 3 eggs 2 light brown and the other blue. Today there was 2 light and 2 medium brown. Where did the blue egg come from? Was there possibly an Ameraucana in the mix before the chicks were hatched? I am perplexed to say the least . . . . . . . Below is a picture of the color differences of the eggs and of our flock.
