I have 4 new hens and 2 started laying already (5 days ) but in the corner of the co-op not in the nesting boxes.. I used large buckets to make the nesting boxes but they are about 13 in across and 20 in deep. will they eventually move into the boxes or did I do something wrong? Please help! also they seem to lay in the afternoon, is that odd?

To encourage laying in nesting boxes, you might want to put a golf ball or wooden egg in the box. They will lay where the other "eggs" are. It doesn't really matter the time they lay. It changes day to day.

my boxes are only about 8 inches deep then I sprinkle some pine shavings inside they nest boxes dont have to be very deep.
