I have month old chicks and I think they ate a nut. No not a Peanut a nut like the one that hold the Little Giant Feeder together. The nut that screws onto the pole that goes down through the feeder to hold the top and bottom together.

I went out to check on them shortly after feeding them and noticed they had disassembled the feeder and I went to pick up the base and there was the nut as soon as I saw it I went to grab it and one of them scooped right in and grabbed it I couldnt get her fast enough to get it away and then she dropped it and another quickly grabbed it. I couldn't tell if they ate it or if it somehow got mixed into the shavings.

I then changed their shavings and didnt find it but then again didn't sift threw every piece.

    Think they will be ok????

They disassembled their feeder? Oh my those are some very tricky chicks. I think a metal nut will stay in whomevers gizzard until the day they pass away of natural causes hopefully. No harm done. [IMG]

This is not the first time they have done this but I was able to get he nut before and I thought that it was an accident that it happened. I guess I should have known better than to try it again. Time for a new feeder.
