Hi,
My newborn silkie has lump on its head.
Feels soft, squishy, looks like blood-filled.
It is just born so I don't know it is just tired or sick.
Does anybody know what it is?
I am getting worried, is it going to survive?

It is true that silkies can hatch the rock.
One silkie hen was sitting on 7 eggs and 2 are hatched,
now other hen steps in and sitting on 5 eggs.
The original mom and 2 babies are kicked out.

Kind of looks like the skull didn't grow over that part of the chick. Almost like a form of anencephaly in chicks?
Other that lump, the shape of head looks normal. I don't it lethargic or tired from hatching. I hope it survives....

poor baby, on the second image it sort of looks like a little blood or discharge on his fluff?
I hope he makes it. I'd suggest separating him from other chicks/chichens, incase it gets pecked at... But I'm not an expert.
@Lenny loves chickens what do you think?

When I zoom in it gets blurry but I think your right i would separate him maybe give him extra vitiams. Hows her acting today?
