I'm ready to start incubating eggs now and not buying day-olds.

I looked all last night around Google Shopping and there are lots and lots of different options for automated incubators.

Is there a pretty common standard on the forum for automated incubators? (Automating being put the egg it and several weeks later a chick pops out)

There are a few good brands of incubators on the market and everyone has their favourite. I'm a huge Brinsea fan myself, I've had wonderful hatches in my Eco 20 and it's pretty much a "hands off" incubator.

If you do a search here you will find many discussions on the pros and cons of different brands and the reviews section is another good place to get opinions and ideas: https://www.backyardchickens.com/products/category/egg-incubators

I would suggest you stick with a well known and trusted brand when buying. Another option is of course to build yourself an incubator, there are many pages with designs and how-to's here. Here are just some:

Gigantic Cabinet UPRIGHT COOLER INCUBATOR w/semi auto turning!
    Homemade Easy Cooler Incubator
