Can anyone tell me what the SOP is for black/blue copper marans?
It should be listed at the Marans Chicken Club website.
The Standards are copyrighted by the American Poultry Association. As such, printing them elsewhere is prohibited by copyright law, except for small excerpts. It has been reported to the APA.
Any serious fancier has a responsibility to support the APA by purchasing the Standard if you are interested in breeding toward that goal. The APA provides the infrastructure and funds to recognize the breeds, create the Standards, and publish them. Their intellectual property should not be used for free by those who wish to benefit by it but are not willing to support that effort.
there is also a thread here, search for Black Copper Marans SOP should bring it up. There is also a Black Copper Marans thread for pics and critiques and talking about them. There is a new thread for the blues, as far as I know there is not even a working standard for the blue or blue copper, but I'm not sure about them
I just so happened to have purchased the SOP from the APA and spending the money I found nothing in the SOP about the Marans. Before I bought the book I had heard that there was suppose to be an added excerpt about the Marans but nope! Report that, and maybe I will get my money back!
The problem with this is that the Marans were added in 2011, the newest Standard was printed in 2010. They do not include excerpts for breeds that have been added since then (I ordered one about a month ago as a gift for a friend and they didn't get one).
I imagine if you contact either the APA or the Maran club they will provide you with a copy.

I recently purchased the SOP by American Poultry Association and Black Copper Maran is not in the book.
