So I was cleaning chicken poo out of the coop today. The floor of the coop is a mixture of sand and Sweet PDZ.

As I was raking the poo towards the middle to scoop out I noticed these slinky looking strains of something. They were clumped together and I knew it wasn't chicken poo.

I pulled them out and started prying at them with some stick and when I opened them up there were these worms inside of them. I've never seen anything like it before. It was almost like some sort of cocoon, but it was flimsy.

Does anybody have any idea what this is?!

    Thanks in advance!

Larva, aka maggot, eating the poop.

See if the chickens like it...good protein, perhaps.
