Okay, clearly I have gender issues. I can't for the life of me identify saddle feathers or any of the other tricks y'all all have to identify boys from girls. I pretty much wait for the egg or crow. What do saddle feathers look like? Apparently not like a tiny saddle. Pretty sure I could pick that one out. Are they more pointy? Less pointy? Square? Round? ARGGG!!!

Will someone please post pictures and identify what this is? Bonus points if you can show me how you tell on young silkies. Several times now I have posted adolescent silkie pictures and had people say "Oh look, two boys and a girl." ???!!!!!

    Please help the gender confused...

Saddle feathers are the feathers that come before the tail. They are along the end of the back.

For the roosters, they are long and pointy. Hens are rounded.

Are they at the point where the tail meets the back? Or are they along the top of the back?

Don't get them confused with the Hackle feathers though. These are the neck feathers.

Quote:Look at the area between where his wing is and the tail. Those are the saddles.
