What is this? Shell less egg? Or something else?

Hello out there,

My little hen passed this strange membrane of clear liquid this afternoon, she seemed a bit hunched and straining at the moment but then went back to behaving like herself. I have found the empty remains of one other like it once before but didn't know who it came from and everyone was acting normally. I have tried searching old posts but can't seem to find anything that confirms what I have here. Does anyone know? Should I be concerned?

Thanks for the help!

Welcome To BYC

It's a shell less membrane with albumen (egg white) in it.
Very hard to pass that's why you saw her hunched up.

Do you provide oyster shell free choice?

It may be a good idea to give her extra Calcium for 3-5 days as well. 1 Caltrate with D3.
Thanks so much for the reply! Happy to know exactly what I am dealing with and I appreciate the tip on the Caltrate. I do offer oyster shell free choice but I swear no one touches it.
