I saw a lump in my 7 year old hen Emma's foot, and after wiggling at it for a week I finally got it out. I have no idea what it is or how it got there. It had dry dirt inside part of it, and the other part was a solid poo\dirt mix.

Here is the pocket the "thing" came out of.

    Thanks in advance!

That would be a "Bumble". Be glad it did not progress to problematic.

    Nice work getting it out.

it was probably just dirt and other stuff that hardened in the webbing of the foot

Thanks everyone! I certainly hadn't thought of bumblefoot as that, I thought bumblefoot was a swelling with a scab on the bottom of the foot. Foot checks for everyone now.

You caught it early. It progresses to what you are probably thinking of. Good animal husbandry on your part.

I'm just glad I caught it early before I had to do anything drastic. It was already making her limp a little bit, almost not noticeable, but still there.

Keep an eye on pocket that is left. It is going to want to refill.

If I put cotton on the bottom of her foot and put vetwrap over that, would that help it heal by keeping stuff out of it?
