Hi everyone. This is the second time I have seen a weird egg like the one pictured below. Its flat on one side. I have 5 ladies and am not sure who did this. Is this normal? Thank you for any input. [IMG][IMG][/IMG]

Well...it's not normal. But it's within the normal spectrum of abnormal eggs...lol! Sometimes the egg tract just doesn't function properly - with some hens its just an occasional glitch. But with others it becomes the norm. Just as people can develop diseases in their organs, or their organs stop working efficiently for other reasons, the same can happen to chickens (and other animals). So the part of the tract where the shell develops (near the end obviously) evidently is having issues. The eggs are still edible - just don't look too appetizing.

There was a link somewhere about different egg issues...I'll see if I can dig it up.
