What killed this Polish rooster? Graphic pictures.

    This rooster was killed from outside the pen,no other chickens were harmed. Head is missing, vent is as you see in the picture. thinking maybe a coon.i have a trap set using the rooster's body for bait.i'll let you know if i catch the killer.

    Looks similar to my kills today and yesterday - done by a hawk. Do you have a top on your pen? If so, probably coon.

    hate to disagree with you all on the coon.....in my experience most of the time a coon will take it with them,,,,just eating the head & ripping into the guts is a little odd really.. a mink or weasel will just eat the head,,maybe some of the organs,,an tom cats will do it..i would set some steel traps around it & if when it returns ..you will know for sure.! i have so much trouble with varmints {since my great pyrenees died } i'm going to buy a trail camera to set up....i set 5 traps every day....31 possums..3 coons- 1 ground hog....& lots of cats..since july..
