I bought this bantam a few weeks ago and I'm not sure what breed it is.
I'm drawing a blank here. When your chick is 6-8 weeks old, you can post photos at "what breed or gender is this." I can't quite decide on color - it is a red or brown chick?
It's dark red. Here's a most recent pic of it.
Hi and welcome to BYC - I agree with D/Diva's comments
G’Day from down under SilkieChicks99 Welcome!
Sorry, I have bantams but have no idea what your little one is; besides very cute that is! This is a link to the Breed & Gender Forum Diva mentioned: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this
I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.
You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.
If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
I have my very first Silkie and I was wondering if they require more TLC than most chickens. I want to raise more in the future but I am just starting with one for now. (Dottie Blue (Silkie) on the left.)
She kind of looks like a Rhode Island Red but can those be Bantams?
Yes they can but I thought she was to dark but maybe not
