I have a chance to get 2 hens, pure black feathers, they are 6-8 years old, I know their getting up there, but they are laying nice brown super large eggs, and I would love to have them for the remainder of their years. I have no idea what kind they are? I was too embarassed to tell the farmer who is giving them to me that I had no clue what kind they were, foolish pride I guess.....trying to look like I have a clue!

Black leghorns, black minorcas. What color are the legs? Never mind, just re-read your post and the ones I mentioned lay white eggs, I believe.

Don't feel foolish. There are so many different breeds that look a lot alike. I believe the Austrolorp was bred by using an Orp, so they will look a lot a like. Just ask him say you've not seen many black hens....

What about Jersey Giants they are solid black, standard (big) and lay large brown eggs. Can you take a pic and post it? That would be easiest for us to guess.
