I bought these chickens for egg laying at a poultry auction here in NY and they never told me anything about the chickens.
I'd like to know what kind of chickens they are and how old they are.

They lay light brown eggs. They are calm, quiet, and friendly. So far we've found 2 eggs in 3 days. I was expecting 1 a day from each chicken.
Hopefully they're just not laying as much because they're not used to their new home yet.

They look like welsummers to me. They normally lay beautiful dark brown eggs. But I'm no expert.

They look just like my Ameraucanas, do their legs have a greenish tent to them? Maybe the rooster was a Rhode Islander or just a brown egg layer and Mom was an Ameraucana. I'm merely guessing.[IMG]

Quote:The only thing is.. I thought Welsummers have very dark eggs. The eggs I have been getting form these chickens are light brown like in the picture.

Could be a mix if only one has feathers.
