What kind of chickens are we.

    I was told they were Black broilers but they are 14 weeks old and are still to small to be butchering all the other broilers I have got in the past were 6-8 lbs in under 10 weeks any ideas what they could be they all have black legs, all the broilers I have ever got in the past had yellow legs. Thanks for your help.

    They do look like they could be colored meat birds, the colored ones grow a lot slower than Cornish Cross, they are meant more for a slow growing bird that will forage, if you do a search (or check out the Meat Birds forum) there are quite a few threads on colored meat birds, yours sound like they are doing about what other people have found https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/877721/freedom-ranger-black-broiler/0_20
