What kind of duck? Solo duckling tips?

I had a lone survivor 3 day old duckling, I put him in a cage on the floor when i wasnt home and my dog would investigate him. when i was home, a human would keep him company. They will bond with something, any animal that is friendly, they will take to. This is a last resort, as it took maybe 5 days driving around and calling around to find another duckling for him. a year later, he is my most friendly bird in a mixed flock of 30 or so.
