what kind of ducks do I have?

Hi I just got these two little ducklings from my mom's friend. We weren't told what kind they are and I am having trouble finding it online. I was wondering if you guys could help me out!.

They look like Pekins to me. Very cute!

They could be any kind of white duck really, but most likely Pekin.

Thank You so much they are adorable. Do you happen to know how old they look? I know nothing about ducks but her friend couldn't keep them and we didn't want them to go to a shelter.

It's kind of hard to tell from that picture, but they look like maybe 1 - 2 weeks old...???

We are going to keep them. They will be outdoor ducks though because my dad refuses to let them live inside. I am doing some research on how to best care for them and give them a happy home.

They'll be happy outside. They love to eat bugs and slugs, dandelions, etc. Ducks are super messy and love to play in their water.

A really good book to get info from is Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks, by Dave Holderread. Your local library probably has it.

I hope dad will let you keep them inside until they feather out they are way to young to be outside with out some heat source.

Thanks so much for your advice! I already told him they have to be fully feathered before we put them outside. My biggest concern is that a cat will eat them or some other predator will get them.
