One of our girls laid this egg today. What in the world is it?
I've had one of those a couple years ago. Not sure what it's called. Just a hiccup in the reproductive tract and very disturbing to see. Don't think it's a long term issue.
Think it might be called a 'lash' egg? Could be wrong. If it doesn't happen consistently, then don't worry. Just up their calcium if they need it.
I looked up lash egg. Mine, or rather my hen's, is just the inner membrane with some albumin in it.
Is she a new layer? Weird eggs happen often with new layers. Search weird egg on byc, I think you'll find something similar. But if it doesn't happen again or often it's still not a worry. Things just sometimes don't work right, lol.
She's not a new layer. It was just really weird.
